PLAYERS AWARDS
The club had a well attended social gathering on Friday night (June 25th) with Veterans and youth mixing together and holding a light hearted awards session for the U16, Youth and Senior teams. The lads dressed in Army fatigues and camouflage and had quite a lot of fun.
On a more serious note, the Chairman Noel Roberts noted the new air of optimism in the club following the success of the Junior and Youth Teams and the huge improvement at senior level.
Dickie Brace praised his youth team and the enormous contribution made by them to the senior team in their late season success. Aled Hughes, the Head Coach, also praised these young players noting that many of them will be going off to university in the Autumn but hoped to see them playing some games when available. Aled stated that we already had enough Bangor players to field a second team in the Gwynedd League next season and that new players had joined the club and more were expected. He hoped to see more former players returning to the club and to create the old club atmosphere

VETERANS TEAM NEWS
Calling all current, former and prospective rugby players and supporters of Bangor Rugby Club Veterans Rugby!!
As coaches and parents at Bangor, we have talked for the last couple of years about kicking off an informal vets scene.
Well, with the support and momentum of players looking to exit the seniors, coaches and dads, we’re there!
Building on a very successful family games and veterans match held in December, our club is ready to officially launch the Bangor Veterans 2010 on Saturday the 6th of February, to coincide with the first 6-Nations matches.
We have already had lots of interest from those of you who are 35+, who want to return to the competitive game, just turn up and train with mates to play a few matches a year, play in a Golden Oldies festival, or simply enjoy the social side of the club again.
All are welcome.
On the 6th, doors (and the bar) will be open from 1600 hours, when we will present our vision, take names, try out the prospective playing and training kit, discuss sponsorship opportunities and training, matches, festivals and events that we can enter in 2010.
It will also provide an excellent opportunity to hear your ideas, for you to contribute, to meet the club’s present senior and youth squads, coaches, committee members and catch up with old mates. Our training facilities and floodlit pitches are superb.
Just give myself (07899 892120) or Tim (07760 160270) a call if you want any more information.
Come on gents (of a certain age), let’s start as we mean to go on, let’s get fit, have fun and make Bangor proud. This is our chance to establish something, to get this off the ground and up and running, this season.
Wherever you’ve played your rugby previously, I’m sure we’ll hear a few stories from seasons gone by! We will certainly be encouraging it!!
COME ON BANGOR!!!!!
Immediately afterwards, the club will be screening the England V Wales match live on the big screen, with match build up from 1700 hours, and we are even throwing in a curry, to be served at half-time.
Come and join us to see an exciting match played at Twickenham and enjoy plenty of support and banter from players present and past.
COME ON WALES!!!!!
Thanks/Diolch,
Paul Dundee and Tim Parry (Orgainsers – yeah, right!)

First win for four years for Bangor
AGM JULY 2009
The AGM was well attended. There were no nominations for officers and the existing officers were re-elected. The president Alan Davies and chairman Stewart Waters, made a strong point about the age of the officers with the president having started his involvement in 1960 and between them they had 91 years of service to the club. Because it was thought that new blood was needed four new committee members were elected, Dr. P. Dundee, Tim Goodwin, Roger Thomas and Robert O'Reagan.
The Rugby Director, Alwyn Bevan, reported that our first team had fulfilled all their fixtures despite great difficulties, something that other clubs in the league had not done. The club has entered a second team into the Gwynedd League for the coming season but it would still be a difficult year for the first team with so many of our young players going off to University and not being regularly available. Cemlyn Williams is to become involved with coaching the first team. It is intended to have an overall coaching director in place to oversee coaching at all age graded.
The youth team had played 21 games winning ten, drawing 1. There was a strong group of players emerging from the juniors into the youth team. The junior teams had performed well but we had not played games at the youngest age groups. The club needs more coaches willing to work with the 7 and 8 year old groups.
The treasurer reported that the club had made a trading profit with bar takings increased substantially but due to the settlement of a long standing dispute over capitol gains tax and large capital expenditure in progress on the club and grounds, the club's overall bank balance was diminishing. The new steward was doing a good job increasing trade. Improvements to the club house and grounds are detailed below. Any member wanting a copy of the audited accounts should contact the treasurer itsmealwyn@aol.com
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE GROUND
The Rugby Director has made it clear that that the main playing pitch must not be used for training in future. Thanks to a grant from the WRU and the clubs own resources, a scrummaging area is being completed where those training can scrum down in all weather without churning up the pitch. Lights have been erected to enable the third pitch to be used for training. The main pitch is having two shelters erected for players and officials so substitutes and coaches wont have to get wet next season. The main pitch has been reseeded and fertilized ready for next season and the training pitch is having renewal work carried out to the drainage system. A new mowing machine has been purchased and is being used to keep the large grounds in good order.
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CLUB HOUSE
Following building alterations the new kitchen is up and running with facilities to cater for large parties so if you want to book a dinner or party get in touch with the steward. The flooring around the bar area has been renewed. Security cameras are to be installed inside and outside the club. The club now has a wireless internet connection so anyone in the club house can connect their laptops to internet. The system is security enabled but the pass word is available on request.
