CHAIRMAN'S LETTER

Dear Member,

In these worrying times, I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and well. Recent months have certainly provided all sports with many challenges, I am also convinced that once we return; playing sport will be more enjoyable than ever. The importance of social interaction, reliance on team work and of course for the boys and girls to be doing something they love alongside their friends. By means of an update I am sharing the latest information I have on a number of areas below:

VIRTUAL RUGBY
There has been lots of activity during the last three months and a good number of our teams have been connecting via ‘Virtual Bangor Rugby’. There have been skills challenges, conditioning sessions, discussion groups and a weekly meetings across the club. The players ability to adapt to the current situation is a real testament to their resilience, the wonders of modern technology and the commitment from our amazing coaches and team managers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for pulling together to ensure that the players have a semblance of rugby during this time.

RETURN TO PLAY
The contact element of rugby means it will still be some time before we are able to return to full contact training and fixtures. It is unlikely that we will be playing fixtures when the new season resumes in September. However, we have been considering a number of different scenarios and we will be ready to adjust the season once we have the approval to go ahead from the WRU. We will be guided at all times by the national governing body for rugby in Wales, the WRU and our own club policies. As part of our planning we want to hear your thoughts and suggestions about how the club can support you and your family and to ensure that we have procedures and rules in place to make you all feel safe when we return. In the next coming days we will be sending an online questionnaire to all members so that everyone can have a say in the way the club will return.

COFFEE AND QUESTIONS
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the points above and answer other rugby related questions you may have. My plan is do this on a Zoom call as follows, please join me if you are able to for some informal discussion on all things on Bangor rugby.
