UNDER 11
Bangor 47 – Llandudno 35 With perfect
conditions both teams played their part in an entertaining, flowing game with
Bangor coming out as eventual winners scoring 7 tries to 5. Ably led by Billy Songhurst, the captain and scrum half who
scored two tries after some impressive running from the base of the scrum as
well as linking up with Michael Lenoard who worked tirelessly in attack and
defence closing the opposition at every opportunity. Also in the backs Rhys
Last who moved to wing after an injury showed the way with a hat trick of tries
with some strong running and forming a lethal partnership with his captain on
the blind side, Celyn Ellis-Williams who with his destructive tackling and
evasive running made a perfect centre partnership with Cynnan Annwyl who was
unlucky to have been held up twice on the try line but showed some quality
running angles, both also kicked three conversions between them.. The forwards with pack leader Dominic Kelly rampaging with
some strong running continued to cause problems for the Llandudno team, and his
strength resulted in a try after a tap penalty move from Billy Songhurst.
Mention needs to go to Leon King who again was unlucky not to score, showed
some strong running and tackled well, Cian Williams whose runs set up good
field positioning and marked his best game for Bangor with a superbly taken try
stretching out his arm to place the ball on the line and also to Tomos Jones
who ran well with the ball when Bangor had struggled in the first half to
contain Llandudno. Both teams played with considerable skill and the
spectators were thoroughly entertained by both teams attitude and commitment. Man of the match: Rhys Last with 21 points.( 3 tries and 3
conversions)
SUNDAY 23rd JJANUARY RHYL
U11's 20 - BANGOR U11's 7 First-Half started
with a great chase from the Bangor players from Kick-Off and saw try from centre
Rhys Last, but also took a knock to his shoulder whilset crossing the
white-wash. Bangor carry'd on attacking for the best pat of the first -half and
nearly saw try's from captain Billy Songhurst and winger Iestyn Hughes. But
after a miss-pass interception Rhyl got their first try and a new wave of
confidance. Half-Time score 7-5 to Bangor. Second-Half was a
very different story though, Bangor seemed to be on their own try-line more
often than they had their hands on the ball and after continuoes drives on our
defensive line they crossed for the try. Two try's followed and Bangor seemed to
be tiring. But out of nowhere their seemed to be a last miniute effort from
Bangor with great back play and handling skills the ball got to Winger Iestyn
Hughes and was taken over the touch-line before reachint the white-wash. Final
score 20-7 to Rhyl. Man of the Match went to Iestyn Hughes. Point Scorers; Rhys Last - 5
points (1T) Michael Leonard - 2
points (1C)
SUNDAY 16th JANUARY
BANGOR U11's 19 - PWLLHELLI U11's 49
First-Half saw alot of possesion by the Pwllheli players and due to alot of miss-tackles we where punished by them. Although Pwllheli dominated Bangor never gave-up and through two converted try's (Captain Billy Songhurst, Michael Leonard) half time was 20-14.
Secon-Half and a knock on from kick-off saw Pwllheli to an other converted try. Bangor try'd their best to stop a over-powering back-line from pwwlheli but still where conceding try's at a fast rate. 5 min to go and Bangor started their fight back with a great individual try from centre Rhys Last. But it was to late. Final Score 19-49 Pwllheli. Man of the Match went to Michael Leonard.
Point Scorers;
Rhys Last - 9 points (1T, 2C)

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 7 th
Starting Line-Up: Fowards: 1.Pwllheli, 2.Pwllheli, 3.Dominic Kelly, 4.Pwllheli, 5.Jack Andreou
Backs : 9.Billy Songhurst (captain), 10.Michael Leonard, 11.Pwllheli, 12.Rhys Last, 13.Celyn Ellis-Williams, 14.Jack Eardley, 15.Iestyn Hughes
Bangor travelled down to Pwllheli today to face a strong Pwllheli side. Bangor where without key players and had to make up numbers from a 20 man strong Pwllheli. The first half started with a deep kick off and a strong chase from Pwllheli which turned into a early try for Pwllheli. Pwllheli then followed up with 2 more try's within the first 5 minutes, and Bangor looked like they where ready to go home. But after 2 good breaks from Rhys Last and Dominic Kelly the team seemed to have life in them again. Half time score was 25-0.
Second-Half, and a few changes in the back line and Bangor seemed a stronger side all round, in all the key area's.Their first try came from a kick from pwllhel which was received by full-back Michael Leonard who evaded 2 players and then passed the ball out to his team-mates, and with great running rugby the try was scored. Second try was also started off by full-back Michael Leonard who again used great feet and handling skills to keep the ball and handed it to his team-mates to cross over and bring the score up to 25-10 within 5 minutes. Bangor's third try came from great running, and the stand-out player in this attempt was debutant Jack Andreou, who picked the ball up at a bottom of a ruck in his own half and brought it up to the Pwllheli 22. Bangor then lost a player to injury, and Pwllheli took full advantage and followed up with two more tries. Final score 35-15.
Man of the match was Michael Leonard due to his great defensive play and running abilities. Also a congratulations for Jack Andreou for winning his first cap for Bangor RFC.
UNDER 11's
This was a close game. The first half was won through over-powering back play and fantastic individual runs from Llangefni, and even though Bangor fought back with very convincing runs from backs Cynan Anwyl and Rhys Last, their effort's where stopped by a over-powering Llangefni defence. The score at half-time Llangefni 21 Bangor 0.
Second half was a complete different story though, Bangor came out looking like a different side and any handling errors or discipline errors where soon forgotten. Their was tremendous runs made by Celyn Ellis-Williams and Domininc Kelly down the middle of the pitch which meant two hard earned trys for Rhys Last. Also in the second half it seemed like fly-half Michael Leonard had a new spring to his step and got his defensive line sorted whilst also running some hard yardage's himself. But after a second try Bangor's defence got to competent and Llangefni scored a fourth try and with a conversion scored the game ended.
Man of the match went to three players which were nominated by captain Bill Songhurst, and they where Rhys Last, Gwydion Meredydd and Dominic Kelly.
