SUNDAY MAY 2nd
BANGOR 4 -1 CAERNARFON
Bangor ended the season on a high by playing Caernarfon away in 2 keenly fought games.
At the start of the season Caernarfon were the first team Bangor played, so this was a chance for the coaches and parents to see how much of an improvement had been made.
For the first game, Bangor were able to field a full team with Guto as Captain, who should great commitment and led from the front. The first few minutes both teams spent time finding their rhythm. Bangor were first to settle and with some strong tackling and stealing of the ball were able to score through Harri. Undeterred Caernarfon came back and scored a try of their own. A last minute try in the first half for Bangor was disallowed because of a clear knock on, so at the break the scores were even.
The second half Bangor came out a lot stronger and seemed to grow in confidence. Some strong tackling and rolling mauls winning valuable turnover ball which was converted into more tries through Harri and Patrick. It wasn't all plane sailing though, with some try saving tackles put in by Rowlant, Ossian and Dion, preventing Caernarfon getting back into the game. The final score was 4 -1 to Bangor.
BANGOR 5 - 1 CAERNARFON
For the second game, Bangor were down to 9 players with the loss of Guto who played so well in the first game.
Ossian stepped up to fill the Captains boots, setting up the "Big Men", Rhys and Tomos to crash through Caernarfons defence. Quick recycling of the ball led to some darting runs down each wing by James and Dion, valiant defence by Caernarfon preventing James from breaking through but eventually Dion was able to find a chink in their armour and open Bangor's scoring. Once again Caernarfon came back through their larger forwards, two great tackles from Will allowed Bangor to reset their defence. Undeterred Caernarfon wouldn't quit and showed great strength and perseverance. The score was 2 - 1 to Bangor at the break.
With only 5 minutes left for the second half there was no time to rest and the second half performance was superb with some strong supporting runs giving Dion and Patrick space to score. The final try came in the last few moments and was a just reward for Tomos who had worked so hard throughout both games. The final score was 5 - 1 to Bangor.
The coaches would like to thank the team and parents along with Gwyn and his team at Caernarfon for their hospitality and spirit.

RUTHIN v BANGOR
"Firstly the players parents should be thanked for their continuing commitment and support in travelling to this away fixture. The players themselves: Dion Hughes, Guto Davies, Harri Jones, James Andrew, Osian Jones, Patrick Brooke, Rhys Hughes, Rolant Jones, Tomos Davies and Will Brooke should be applauded for their playing and spirit. Not once did I see a player drop his head or tempers fray when the going got tough.
Bangor and Ruthin U9s played 4 x10 minutes periods of high intensity and competitive rugby. This was a much improved performance from the last time they played Ruthin away at Rhyl.
There was no real man of the match, as each player produced arguably their best performance seen so far. The tackling was a vast improvement and on many occasions Ruthin were stopped from scoring by valiant tackles and strong defence. Such was the passion and pride on display that any injured player would only leave the field reluctantly and was eager to get back into the action. The hard work of the Bangor players was rewarded with 2 trys from Harri Jones and Patrick Brooke. James Andrew was unfortunate not to add a 3rd to the total in the last gasp seconds of the final quarter.
Ruthin, arguably the strongest side played by Bangor, were good hosts and showed good grace even in victory."

U11. Bangor v Llangefni – made up of a mix of U11 and U10 players. It was a clean game, played with real spirit and determination by both sides, no injuries. BANGOR 10 -1 LLANDUDNO
A lack of Bangor players meant that the starting teams were only 6 a side. Throughout the game Bangor showed some great strength in their running game and tackling. Llandudno were unlucky not to score on many occasions and were a good natured side who never gave up. Their passing was stronger than Bangor's and only a few handling errors and strong tackling from Dion for Bangor prevented Llandudno from making more of a mark

UNDER 9's
Under 9's played in a Round Robin at Rhyl and did themselves proud. In the first game they beat Rhyl by 3 tries to 1 but after a brave effort they unfortunately lost to a very well organised team from Ruthin by 8 tries to 2. Well done to all who played and to the parents for bringing their children to Rhyl and their excellent support
