ERYRI CUP FINAL
May 4th 2008
BANGOR 0 - 26 LLANDUDNO
Bangor were a much better side than the score suggests but Llandudno deserved their win managing to have the lion's share of the possession and territory. The half time score was 0 - 7 and Bangor had their chances but didn't quite manage to score. The second half saw Llandudno dominate in most areas of the games and they frequently created overlaps as Bangor were drawn into the rucks.

UNDER 12's DO WELL IN TOURNAMENT
In very warm conditions a great day was had by all. Bangor showed some great skills and teamwork to finish second in Nant
Conwy's tournament. Playing each of the other 2 teams twice Bangor initially lost to Northern Irish team Portadown coming back to draw with Nant Conwy in the second game. They then ran away with a great win against Portadown and followed up with a superb display against Nant, controversially losing with the last action of the game as Nant went over
for a try to win 10 points to 7.
Thanks to all players for an excellent day's rugby.

BANGOR 22 v 15 COLWYN BAY
THURSDAY APRIL 24th
Bangor's young talent was on display and the enthusiasm for the game was was displayed with a squad of 30 eligible players but unfortunately and to the disappointment of many, not all of them could get on the field.
The game was an exciting affair with both teams getting on top for long periods but Bangor never got into arrears after scoring a try in the opening minute with some quick movement of the ball finished off by Karim Noaman. Colwyn bay struck back with some powerful play and levelled the score with a fine try. It took a while for Bangor to regain their form and good handling led to Kars Jones crossing for a try. Karim Noaman extended the lead with another try during Bangor's best period of open play. The visitors struck back with another try following some good running of their own.
The second half started with Bangor occupying the visitors try line area for a long period and came close to scoring several time. Some remarkable defending kept them out and then when Colwyn Bay finally cleared the line Conner Hails intercepted their ball and scored a converted try. In the final perioid Colwyn Bay got on top and it was Bangor's turn to put in desperate defence and when the visitors added to their tally with an unconverted try, it was one score difference between them but Bangor clung on and celebrated the final whistle.

BANGOR v St. HELENS
UNDER 12's
The weather wrecked what should have been a great day for the boys. First the Dublin team had to leave early to catch the last ferry before the storm so didn't get to play. Bangor took on St. Helens under a torrent of icy cold rain. The Bangor lads were bigger and maybe a bit older and overwhelmed the visitors with many tries but made them welcome in the warmth of the club house after.

BANGOR v PWLLHELI
UNDER 10s
This was the U10’s first match since before Christmas and it took Bangor some time to find their shape on what was a very cold and windy day. Pwllheli ran in two tries early on before Bangor got a grip and started to get some possession from improving mauling and rucks. The second half was more even and a fast and open game ensued. Several good breaks by both sides got stopped just short of the try line by some good covering and both sides scored. The final score was 6 tries to 4 to Pwllheli who played with good spirit and we look forward to visiting their pitch soon

BANGOR 40 v BRO FFESTINIOG 12
Bangor put in a good all-round performance leading the first half 26 - 0 with tries from Ben Baker (2) , Chris Bellini and flying winger Conner Robinson who had a stunning turn of speed on the wing. Bellini was a power house in the pack and showed a good turn of speed for a big lad. Jack Williams was on form with boot and converted three of these. Bro made a comeback in the second half and scored two well deserved tries but Bangor's flying winger added another two tries and Jack Williams a conversion to make sure of their victory.

Bro Ffestiniog U10’s 21 – Bangor U10’s: 5
Bangor started well and displayed some good ball handling skills but Bro Ffestiniog opened the score with two tries in the first half. Bangor reacted well but had to defend hard for the rest of the first half while struggling to clear the ball from rucks and mauls. The second half started with Bangor managing to take the initiative and had the home team defending on their try line. They were rewarded with a try from James Hughes and for a long period it looked like Bangor was going to make a comeback. Several times they came within a yard or two of doing so but couldn’t and at the last action of the game Bro Ffestiniog scored a third try.
James Hughes (scored a try and narrowly missed another) is improving every week and is becoming a leading player in attack. As always Stephan Owen took every opportunity to run the ball but on a small muddy pitch it was a difficult task. Harry Songhurst displayed skills and vision at the scrum and managed some threatening runs while Guillaume Peyrasse, Douglas Seale and Conor Williams combined well again at the back for several piercing attacks. The rucks were allowed to become rather messy and Merin Rhyd, Jake Davies and Haf Jones had a very committed game trying to control the ball in these difficult circumstances. Haf Jones showed a strong determined spirit up to the end. All the team defended well and tackled relentlessly but Jake Davies distinguished himself with some fierce tackles.
It was a very good team effort with a positive attitude all way through and all the players can be proud of their performance.

BANGOR 40 v LLANGEFNI 0
The game started well for Bangor as Llangefni were caught cold and conceded tries early on in the game. From there it was going to be difficult for the islanders to come back as they were already weakened by several missing players. A confident Bangor side was allowed to run the ball wide and was rewarded with 8 tries. Elin Thompson, Haf Jones and Paddy Kelly did a good job in controlling the ball up front while Douglas Seale was instrumental in the back line allowing tries from Stephan Owen (3), Guillaume Peyrasse (3), Conor Williams and Harry Songhurst. It was encouraging to see Bangor playing passing and running rugby in a game which was played in a friendly spirit.

Bangor U10’s – Bethesda U10’s: 10 -5
Bangor under 10’s continue to progress and show promising signs for the future. After the 20 to 5 win against Rhyl last week, the team was back on the field today to face Bethesda in a closely disputed game. The first half saw some strong running from Bethesda which tested the Bangor defence. The home side started the second half with determination and scored two tries, first by Stephan Owen who deservedly scored after several decisive runs and then by Paddy Kelly powering over the line to finish a well worked forward move. Bethesda reacted well and scored a try but the organisation and the discipline of Bangor secured a well deserved win.
The coaches were pleased to see the Bangor forwards working very hard to win valuable ball with Elin Thompson and Haf Jones tirelessly confronting the Bethesda boys, supported by Meryn Rhyd, James Hughes and Paddy Kelly who took turns to run through the defence. Harry Songhurst showed great composure for his first game as scrum-half, providing the back line with good attacking ball. The backs tried to play an ambitious passing game with Guillaume Peyrasse as fly-half, Connor Williams and Douglas Seale in the centre and Stephan Owen on the wing, combining to move the ball wide and testing the defence with some counter attacking runs.
