FRIDAY MAY 6th
DEVELOPMENT GAME
BETHESDA YOUTH 10 - 39 BANGOR YOUTH
Bangor Youths played Bethesda Youths in a development game which proved beneficial for both teams on Friday evening at Bethesda RFC. We had 25 players turn up and everyone had a run out which can only be good grounding for next season's Youth. The final result was Bethesda Youths 10 Bangor Youths 39 with 7 tries scored for Bangor from the following players: Jordan, Rhodri, Calvin, Antony, Declan, Rhys and Dyfed (U16 PLAYER) and 1 conversion ach from Declan and Rhodri.
BANGOR 22 - 5 NEWTOWN
The visitors made the long trip north on a Friday evening to give Bangor a good run for their money. They didn't get enough ball to let their backs run and Bangor did well to keep them inside their own half for much of the game although at no time did they run away with the game. Bangor eventually opened the score when forward Joe Adamson rounded of a bout of play forcing his way over the line. It looked like Bangor were getting into first gear when utility player Declan Jones playing at No.8 scored a great individual try kicking overhead and twice hacking the ball on to just get the touch down in the corner of the pitch. Newtown showed they had plenty to play for with a quick response when Dan Gibbs seized on an error to hack the ball on and touch down to make the score 10 - 5.
The second half turned into a slightly dour match with two well matched packs fighting it out with scrummages and wheeling each other about. The game came to life in the later stages when the visitors seemed to tire first and Bangor started moving the ball around. Ben Baker rounded off one bout forcing his way over the line and captain Rhys Williams got the final try also ending a bout of passing and ball retention. Meilor Parry converted the first of these, the only successful kick of the game.
WELSHPOOL 12 - 17 BANGOR
Bangor’s youth team have increased their lead at the top of division 2 N with a hard win over rivals Welshpool. In an ill tempered but exciting game in which Bangor got on the wrong side of the referee and ended with only 12 players on the field, they managed to squeeze out a win with 2 tries from Declan Jones, one from Gwion Williams and a conversion fro Ivo de Jesus.
Bangor Youth 41 - 6 Abergele Youth
Abergele turned up for this evening fixture opting for uncontested scrums from the start but were certainly a more organised team since the last time these 2 teams met. With Tom Glynne out with an injury Ivo De Jesus played at outside half and controlled the game well with the forwards competing well for the ball giving him a platform to work from. After giving some initial penalties away Bangor settled down and played some decent rugby resulting in 3 first half tries coming from Jordan, Declan and Ivo who also converted leaving a half time score of 17 6 to Bangor. With the game deemed won just after half time Bangor brought on 5 U16 players who all give a good account of themselves which can only be good for next season's Youth. The game did get a little flat towards the end of the 2nd half due to Bangor being penalised at the breakdown resulting in 2 Yellow Cards. To their credit Abergele played the game to the last minute but a combination of good defence from Bangor and naivety from Abergele prevented them crossing the whitewash. Bangor started to put more facets of play together resulting in another 4 tries in this half with Jordan getting his 2nd of the game, Rhodri scoring 2 and Llyr scoring with the last play of the game. Ivo and Rhodri both added a conversion each finishing the game with a final score of 41 6. Overall a good runout for the Youth and good to see U16's coming through and the return of Rhys Cochyn and Karl Roberts to the Youth setup was also encouraging.
BANGOR 19 - 24 LLANDUDNO
Llandudno snatched victory with the last action of the game scoring a try right on time after a hard fought and closely contested game.

BANGOR 30 - 10 NANT CONWY
Bangor returned to winning ways and continue to challenge for the league title when they fielded a strong team in this division 2N game. The forwards power house in the form of Joe Simpson, who had a tremendous game, Jordan Scott, Sean Hughes, Ben Baker, Mike Royston-Roberts and captain Rhys Williams gave them a strong platform to launch attacks and this soon brought reward with utility player Declan Jones at centre going in for the first try in the corner. Nant put up plenty of resistance and threatened to have an overlap in the backs several times but couldn't spin the ball wide fast enough. Bangor continued to take their opportunities and scored another first half try through Meiler Parry.
Nant tired in the second half and Bangor ran in more tries from Calvin Williams and Meiler Parry who completed his hat trick. Nant showed resilience and for once they got the ball wide and Ewan Jones scored a fine try for them. Williams got his second try for Bangor to end the game on a high note.

YOUTH CUP
BANGOR 11 - 16 LLANDUDNO
Bangor led through most of the game and were disappointed to go down in the last quarter of the game. Bangor pressed hard for all the first half and scored two penalties from the boot of Rhodri Parry. They scored a solitary try with a great forward drive through the lineout for Joe Adamson to ground the ball. Llandudno managed a single penalty in response. The second half saw the visitors get on top with their forwards retaining more possession and the backs had a clear edge with speed and determination. They slowly ground down Bangor's lead with a try and then a penalty to draw level. Close to the end they added a try to take the lead. Bangor mounted some good attacks at the end but did not have the power to get over the try line.
DIVISION 2 N
BANGOR 55 - 0 FLINT
Flint who have replaced Llangollen in Youth League 2N had a torrid welcome from Bangor who ran riot to maintain their 100% record. Bangor ran up 36 points in the first half with an impressive display of power that locked the visitors out of the game from the start. Forward Jordan Scott started the ball rolling with a power drive to the line. Declan Jones playing in the centre scored three tries and a conversion. Gwion Williams added two more tries and forward Ryan Butler got on the score sheet for the first time this season. Prop Karl Roberts added another try. Bangor's new half back duo of scrum half Llyr Jones and outside half Tommy Glyn were impressive with Glyn also finding the try line. Ivo de Jesus added 4 conversions. This Bangor team is starting to look very impressive.

BANGOR 41 - 20 PWLLHELI
The
visitors did not have a full 15 so the game was played with reduced numbers and
uncontested scrums throughout. Bangor found themselves on the receiving end in
the first half when the lively Pwllheli team scored three tries to Bangor's one
to lead 5 - 17 at the break. In the second half Bangor made some changes
bringing on Declan Jones and Ivo de Jesus that resulted in them scoring twice
to level the score. Pwllheli took the lead again with a penalty but after that
they ran out of steam and Bangor scored freely towards the end to run away with
the game. Man of the match was second row forward Jordon Scott who
provided the platform for Bangor's success. Try of the match was scored by prop
Karl Roberts breaking out from mid field and handing on to Joe Adamson up in
support he then took the final pass to score under the posts.
Bangor's
scorers were
Declan
Jones (back row) 3 Tries
Rhodri
Parry (scrum Half) 1 Try and 2 conversions
Rhys
Owen 1 Try
Karl
Roberts 1 Try
Tom
Graham 1 Try
Ivo

NANT CONWY 0 - 31 BANGOR
Bangor
remain unbeaten after a stunning victory away at Nant Conwy. Centre Gwion
Williams ran in 2 tries. Scrum half Rhodri Parry scored another and added a
conversions. Captain Ivo de Jesus added 2 conversions one of them scored by the
new Bangor fullback and the other by 2nd row Mike Royston-Roberts.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 2nd
Bangor's
new crop of youth team players have stepped up to the mark at senior level with
a fine win over visitors Welshpool who tested them to the full after their long
journey from Mid Wales. Welshpool had the best of the first half keeping Bangor
penned in their own half for much of the game and taking the lead with an early
try from Tom Holloway. Bangor did well to fight back and level the score with a
try from centre and captain Ivo de Jesus who finished off a move created by a
charging run from forward Jordon Scott. The visitors regained the lead with a
try from Henry Richards finishing a good bout of handling in the backs and
converted by Gareth Williams. Bangor added a penalty from Rhodri Parri and trailed
8 - 12 at the interval.
Bangor
had the wind behind them in the second half and played the game with gusto.
Forwards Mike Royston-Roberts and Jordon Scott were in great form making the
hard yards to set up attacks for the backs who kicked intelligently to make
ground. Jordon Scott got the next try but captain Ivo de Jesus gave a master's
class in finishing with a further 2 tries. Rhodri Parri got in on the act with
a try, conversion and penalty. Dafydd Roberts on the wing gathered a ball
kicked into the corner to add another tray. Welshpool managed to score a try
from Gareth Williams at the end.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 25th
This
was a late start to the youth league for both clubs who were playing their
first game of the season. Both teams contained many new players but in Bangor's
case they had come up through the junior system and were more experienced. This
showed with their better discipline and drilling and despite a spirited game
from the home team Bangor dominated in all phases of the game and overwhelmed
them.
The
scoring started early on with captain Ivo de Jesus getting the first touch
down. Although not scoring himself, the foundation was laid by flanker Declan
Jones who set up many attacking moves.
Bangor's
scorers were Ivo de Jesus (2 Tries), Rhees Owen (2 tries), Gwion Williams (3
Tries), Mike Royston-Roberts (1 try), Tom Graham (1 try), Alex Johnson (1 Try)
and Rhodri Parri (3 conversions).

BANGOR 36 - 27 ILLINOIS ALL STATE
TORNADOS
3rd AUGUST 2010
A
good crowd turned up to watch this tour match and Bangor fielded a strong team
brimming with enthusiasm and a large squad all keen to get on the field. The
fired up Bangor boys looked like running away with the game in the first half
when they notched up 29 points thanks to strong forward play from Joe Starling,
Dan Entwistle and others. In the backs Jonni Hughes and Darren Brace proved too
strong for the visitors with their tries and conversions. The tornados only
managed a penalty from Kevin Kanzler.
The
second half was a different matter with both teams making changes. The
Americans changed tactics making the game into a mainly forward battle. With
some tempers fraying and Bangor losing two players to the sin bin the Americans
came back with some powerful play with tries from Rosner, Senior, Vargas and
McGlynn and three conversions from Kanzler. Bangor only managed one converted
try in reply.
